Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told The Liverpool Echo that defender Virgil van Dijk is now back to his best.

Klopp has said that Van Dijk, who joined Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018 for £75 million, has been playing really well this season.

The Liverpool boss is full of praise for the 30-year-old former Celtic central defender.

Jurgen Klopp’s verdict on Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk

Klopp told The Liverpool Echo about Van Dijk: “(He’s been) really good, really good. Long may it continue. Obviously the rehab worked really well so he came back in really good shape.

“He needed some rhythm, very important, and he got that rhythm. He’s now back to his best, for sure.

“What helps us a lot and what helped him a lot is we have options around so we don’t have to push him through in moments when his body is giving a sign that he needs to step aside for a moment.

“That is very helpful and that is why the situation is very good.”

Big player for Liverpool

We all know just good Van Dijk is and how important he is for Liverpool.

The Netherlands international centre-back is a big reason why Liverpool have won the Premier League and the Champions League in recent years.

In our opinion, Van Dijk will play a massive role in Liverpool’s quest to win the league and the Champions League this season.

The Dutchman missed lost of last season due to injury, and Liverpool could not compete for the Premier League title.

Things are different this time around.

Yes, Manchester City are the favourites, but Liverpool are not going away.

We think that the Premier League title race this season will go down to the final weekend.

It simply has to.
