Jurgen Klopp was screaming at Fabinho as the Liverpool midfielder struggled once again in Saturday’s defeat to Leeds United.

The Reds were back in action again on Saturday evening as they hosted Leeds at Anfield.

The win over Ajax in midweek gave fans hope again after losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest last week.

It was another real struggle for Liverpool though as they fell behind to Rodrigo’s opener from a Joe Gomez howler.

Mohamed Salah pulled Liverpool level but Crysencio Summerville ended up winning it for Leeds at the death.

Jurgen Klopp was screaming at Fabinho

Liverpool just keep taking one step forward before going two steps back.

They beat Manchester City and West Ham United only to then lose to Nottingham Forest. They beat Ajax and then go and lose to Leeds, who had lost four in a row.

This seems like the end of the cycle for this Liverpool team and some key players look well off the pace.

Nobody encapsulates that more than Fabinho.

The Brazilian looks like a shadow of his former self and continues to struggle.

It’s unclear just what is going on with Fabinho but he keeps playing himself out of the team this season.

This was another disappointing display from Fabinho, who was substituted on the hour mark in favour of Jordan Henderson.

Few would have criticised Klopp if he had pulled Fabinho at the break though and it looked like that could happen.

The Athletic’s James Pearce noted that Klopp was giving Fabinho a ‘rollocking’ for his poor play and The Daily Mail add that Fabinho was ‘clearly unimpressed’ at being singled out.

It’s suggested that Fabinho merely squinted back at Klopp rather than apologise in any way, and that only made the German even angrier.

Klopp can see what we all see; this isn’t Fabinho, this isn’t the player that has been the rock of Liverpool’s midfield since joining from Monaco in 2018.

Fabinho has more than earned his £180,000-a-week contract since joining Liverpool and established himself as one of the top defensive midfielders in the world.

It wouldn’t be at all surprising if Fabinho is now left out against Napoli on Tuesday night.

The 29-year-old just can’t seem to find his form and if this continues, there will surely be more Klopp tirades to come.
