Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has seen ‘super positive’ signs from his players during their mid-season training camp in Dubai.

The Reds jetted off to Dubai during the World Cup break in order to pick up their fitness levels and play some glorified friendlies.

A defeat to Lyon and a win over Milan was a mixed return in terms of results but Klopp won’t lose any sleep over it.

Losing 3-2 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup wasn’t ideal but Liverpool will hope to restart their Premier League campaign in style.

Liverpool will head off to Villa Park today with the Reds still needing to get their league season back up to the levels once expected of them.

This term just hasn’t gone to plan for Liverpool and fans are expecting much better heading into the festive period and beyond.

Klopp sees ‘super positive’ signs in Liverpool

Liverpool boss Klopp certainly believes that the trip to Dubai has helped his players anyway.

A few players didn’t make the trip because of their World Cup obligations and others were a little late to arrive.

Yet Klopp has told The Telegraph that he saw very encouraging signs from his plays during that training camp.

Klopp added that he trusts Liverpool’s process and all of the things they do to try and get better on a daily basis.

The German felt that this trip to Dubai was ‘completely different’ to pre-season training, believing that Liverpool are now heading in the right direction.

Liverpool went into the World Cup break with wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, with Klopp now confident that the Reds can pick up that form immediately.

“All the signs I got in the Dubai training camp were super positive,” said Klopp. “I trust in our process and the things we do. It was completely different to pre-season. Completely different. In all the games I saw we were going in the right direction. I am positive we can pick up where we left off rather than go back to the start of the season,” he added.

The proof will be on the pitch, as there have been far too many false dawns for Liverpool fans this season.

It’s time to stop the trend of being good for a couple of games and then being flat again; Liverpool need a consistent run of results to get back into the top four, and Klopp will hope the preparations in Dubai help.
