Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hailed Diogo Jota with the ‘exceptional’ forward now available for selection again after injury problems.

The Reds need any boost they can get at the moment and Jota’s return is a much-needed pick-me-up for Klopp and co.

Jota has endured real frustration this term as hamstring and calf injuries have kept him out of the Liverpool side.

That means Jota has played just seven Premier League games this season, starting four games and coming off the bench three times.

Jota returned after four months out, coming off the bench against Everton, Newcastle United and Real Madrid.

The Portuguese attacker then started at Crystal Palace over the weekend and is in line to start against former club Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight.

Jota will be battling with Cody Gakpo and the returning Darwin Nunez for a starting spot but his goalscoring ability will surely be utilised by Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp hails ‘exceptional’ Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota

Klopp certainly knows what Jota can provide and seems very excited to have him back available again.

Klopp has told TalkSPORT that it’s ‘massive’ to have Jota back available once again.

The German noted that Jota is an ‘exceptional’ and ‘top class’ player who will be a major help to Liverpool.

Klopp admitted that Jota was tired after Saturday’s game at Palace but he will ‘definitely’ be involved tonight barring any late issues.

“[It’s] massive [having him back]. Diogo is an exceptional player,” Klopp said. “He needs to get rhythm now. He was tired after the game on Saturday and we have to see. He will definitely be involved again if nothing happens. Top class player, versatile. Helpful for this busy period,” he added.

Jota is absolutely vital in this period for Liverpool.

It’s clear that Nunez and Gakpo are still adjusting to life in the Premier League and are going to blow hot and cold.

Mohamed Salah can’t carry the load on his own so having a proven Premier League goalscorer back available again is vital.

34 goals in his first two seasons at Liverpool shows the kind of impact Jota can have and Liverpool will be hoping for big things.
