Liverpool want Jude Bellingham but their fight with Real Madrid has now taken a turn after they were drawn against each other in the Champions League.

The Reds are expected to spend heavily on revamping their midfield in 2023.

Jurgen Klopp needs to have his midfield refreshed after a disappointing start to the season and we could see more than one signing in that area.

The German would surely want a signing in January but Liverpool’s top target won’t become available until the end of the season.

Liverpool want Jude Bellingham

It has been common knowledge for a while now that Liverpool are very interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Two clubs appear to be vying at the front of the queue for Bellingham.

Marca claim that Real Madrid want Bellingham but are worried about Liverpool’s pursuit of the English star.

Liverpool appear to be putting in plenty of groundwork behind the scenes as they chase a deal for Bellingham.

Liverpool may need Champions League football to secure Bellingham though and some will worry that FSG won’t fund a deal given that they are open to selling the club.

This transfer saga has now taken another turn because Liverpool and Real will lock horns in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Monday’s draw pitted the two teams against each other once again having gone head-to-head in the final of last season’s competition.

Real ended up winning that game and then beat Liverpool in the race for Aurelien Tchouameni shortly after.

Liverpool will know the importance of this tie anyway but Bellingham’s future may now be a huge factor too.

If Liverpool can dump Real out of the Champions League, they will show to Bellingham that they are still a major force in Europe and ultimately the place to go next summer.

Winning this tie can give Liverpool a major selling point over Real and Klopp will be praying that his players can show Bellingham that Anfield is right for him, not Madrid.
