Italian newspaper La Repubblica claim Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Brighton playmaker and World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister – with a fee between £31million and £35million required.
Mac Allister, 23, has been in excellent form for Brighton this season – scoring five goals in 14 League games. He was included in Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina side, but would have been forgiven for thinking he would warm the bench.
However, after a 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia, Scaloni shaked things up. Mac Allister and Enzo Fernandez came into the side. The duo combined with Rodrigo De Paul to perfection, proving crucial as Argentina won the World Cup.
Little surprise, both are being linked with big Premier League moves. Italian outlet L’Interesta claim Spurs are keen on Brighton’s no.10, as are Juve, Inter and Atletico Madrid. According to Ben Jacobs, there is interest from Arsenal.
Now, Liverpool are on Mac Allister’s radar. The report states that Brighton want a fee between £31m and £35m and Liverpool have made their interest known in the ‘last few hours’. Brighton would make a profit on their £7m outlay.

So, which move is best for the World Cup hero? Liverpool have strengthened considerably with the signing of Cody Gakpo – another breakout star from Qatar. Whether the Reds are willing to spend big again, remains to be seen.
But, they need to. Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho are all either in their peak or past it. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are out of contract in June, as is James Milner. Midfield additions are required at Anfield.
More than just Jude Bellingham. Mac Allister would be ideal. That combination of a no.8 and a no.10. Arsenal already have Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira. Tottenham do need a player like him, but surely, Liverpool is more tempting.
