Liverpool want to sign teenage defender, he’s already being backed for senior international call-up

Liverpool want Johan Bangsbo and the Goteborg defender is being tipped for an international call-up to the Sweden squad very soon.

Sweden have missed out on qualification for the World Cup having been dumped out in play-offs by Poland.

Janne Andersson has kept his job at this point but this is the first major tournament that Sweden have missed out on since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Changes may be coming and Sweden may need to find their next generation of stars with Liverpool target Bangsbo one potential regular.

Liverpool want Johan Bangsbo

This one didn’t get reported heavily in England at the time, but Liverpool have been touted as a suitor for Goteborg talent Bangsbo.

Aftonbladet in Sweden reported late in August that Liverpool have been watching Bangsbo ahead of a potential move.

Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, Brondby, Genoa and Feyenoord are also understood to be keen on Bangsbo.

Liverpool seemingly face a real fight if they want Bangsbo and the 19-year-old is bound to attract even more suitors.

Born in Kungsbacka just about half an hour outside of Gothenburg, Bangsbo started out with Saro IK before joining up with Goteborg.

The 6ft 3in centre back has only played 11 times for Goteborg but is already dazzling fans over in Sweden.

Whilst Bangsbo only has two Under-19 caps to his name with Sweden, he is already being backed for senior duty.

Aftonbladet suggest it would be no surprise if Bangsbo lands himself a senior call-up in the very near future.

Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof is Sweden’s top centre back with the likes of Pontus Jansson and Filip Helander offering support.

Fellow youngsters Aiham Ousou and Pavle Vagic are in the mix but Bangsbo is an ascending talent and a Sweden call-up could arrive.

Liverpool many see Bangsbo as a real talent for the future given that Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk are both in their 30’s, and they may be wise to move quickly before other Premier League clubs spot him too.
