Liverpool want Joao Gomes and the midfielder has secured an enormous trophy with Flamengo having won the Copa Libertadores.
The Reds’ strange form continued with a 2-1 defeat to Leeds United on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men just seem to take one step forward and then two steps back, failing to form any kind of consistency.
Liverpool’s midfield appears to be a major problems with the Reds looking slow, sluggish and passive in midfield.
Big additions are expected in that area of the pitch and whilst Jude Bellingham is the key target, others are being linked too.

Liverpool want Joao Gomes
One name in the mix is Flamengo talent Joao Gomes.
SPORT reported in September that Liverpool are battling Real Madrid in the race to sign Gomes, who has a release clause of around €60million (£52million).
Flamengo want that full release clause so Liverpool may have to dig deep if they want to sign the Brazilian.
Liverpool may well have been keepings tabs on Gomes as he played in arguably the biggest game of his career.
Flamengo took on Athletico Paranaense in the final of the Copa Libertadores, essentially the South American Champions League.
Flamengo ran out 1-0 winners as Gabriel Barbosa – also known as Gabigol – fired the only goal of the game.
Gomes was seen lifting the trophy and even cutting out a piece of the net to take home with him.
AS called Gomes a defensive ‘expert’ and described him as ‘a bloodhound, tireless in pressure and recovery’.
With Fabinho struggling for form this season, maybe that’s the kind of player Liverpool will be in the market for ahead of 2023.
Flamengo still have four games to go before the World Cup but with Gomes possibly on the move in January, he could be going out on a major high.
Liverpool tasted a painful defeat last night but target Gomes was on top of the world; the Reds may just hope he can bring some of that success to Anfield.
