Jamie Carragher has praised Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman amid claims Liverpool are interested in signing him.

Carragher was speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Wolves facing Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday (12/03, 4:30pm).

Carragher picked out Kilman as a key man for Wolves, hailing him as an ever-present in the heart of the Wolves defence.

Liverpool legend Carragher noted that Kilman is ‘no-frills’ and you rarely see mistakes out of him.

Carragher added that Kilman is nailed-on to play no matter who is Wolves manager with Julen Loptegui trusting him just as much as Bruno Lage did.

“Max Kilman at the back for Wolves, an ever-present for Wolves all season,” said Carragher. “He’s no-frills at centre back, he just gets on with his job and very rarely makes mistakes, hence why he’s an automatic pick no matter who the manager is,” he added.

Kilman couldn’t help Wolves avoid defeat though as Newcastle ran out 2-1 winners thanks to Miguel Almiron’s winner.

Jamie Carragher’s praise for Max Kilman comes amid Liverpool interest

Carragher is clearly a big fan of Kilman and it sounds like his beloved Liverpool may well feel similarly.

CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs told Caught Offside earlier this month that Liverpool fancy signing Kilman this summer.

The Reds continue to be linked with left-footed centre backs ahead of the summer window, such as Josko Gvardiol and Levi Colwill.

Kilman fits a similar mould and Liverpool could make their move if they sell a centre back this summer.

Kilman, 25, has a pretty incredible story as a former futsal player who featured in non-league football with Welling United, Maidenhead United and Marlow.

Now a Premier League regular, Kilman has been incredibly solid for Wolves and is one of the top left-footed centre backs in the Premier League.

Wolves would be in a position to command a hefty fee for Kilman, who is under contract at Molineux until 2026 with the option of another year.

Liverpool certainly won’t make any transfer moves based on the opinion of Carragher but seeing this kind of praise at least affirms that Kilman is highly-regarded by Premier League greats.
