Andre Trindade is ‘definitely leaving Fluminense in January’ with Premier League giants Liverpool reportedly in pole position to sign the highly-rated defensive midfielder.
For all of Alexis Mac Allister’s qualities, shielding the backline, winning tackles and tracking runners is not really his forte. Sunday’s 2-2 draw with the Argentine’s former employers Brighton and Hove Albion was another game in which Mac Allister toiled in an ill-fitting ‘number six’ role.
And, as far as the World Cup winner is concerned, Andre Trindade cannot arrive at Anfield soon enough.
If Mac Allister feels like a square peg in a round hole in his deep-lying spot, 22-year-old Andre may be the missing piece in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool jigsaw.

As reporter Graeme Bailey says on 90Min’s Talking Transfers podcast; ‘many people think he’s the best defensive midfielder in the Brazilian top flight at the moment’.
Liverpool want Andre Trindade
Andre, who has already played 150 senior games for Fluminense, is a superb defensive midfielder, a player blessed with poise and maturity far beyond his years. He is strong, quick, mobile. Andre has already been labelled the finest in his position anywhere in Brazil by La Flu coach Fernando Diniz.
Bailey, meanwhile, claims that Liverpool scouted Andre during Fluminense’s Copa Libertadores semi-final victory over Internacional last week, setting up a decider with Argentine giants Boca Juniors.
“He really is one on the agenda for January. I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t leave Fluminense. Will it be to Liverpool? I think they’re first in the queue,” Bailey adds.
“He’s definitely leaving Fluminense in January. And he may very well be turning up at Anfield.”
January approach likely
Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt claims to have been contacted by Liverpool directly for discussions over Andre before the window closed on September 1st. ESPN reporting that the Merseyside giants lodged a £25 million bid (Lance).

“It is obvious that it is normal to receive proposals,” Andre, who also confirmed interest from Fulham and Nottingham Forest, told Globo Esporte. “Even more so with the team doing well.
“I am happy about the offers that arrive.”
