Ibrahima Konate has suffered an injury and could now miss Liverpool’s game against Manchester City later today, with James Milner possibly coming in.
Here we are again, waiting to see if Liverpool’s Premier League campaign can finally take off.
Champions League wins over Ajax and Rangers at Anfield didn’t exactly bring a spark and Liverpool lost 3-2 to Arsenal last weekend.
Another Champions League win over Rangers – this time with a staggering 7-1 scoreline at Ibrox – could be the catalyst for Liverpool and they would love to prove their credentials again today.

Ibrahima Konate has suffered an injury
Liverpool would no doubt love to beat Manchester City given the rivalry between the two clubs in recent years.
Slowing down Erling Haaland will be the big task for Liverpool today and it may have just been made even more difficult.
The Athletic report that defender Ibrahima Konate is now a major doubt for today’s meeting with City.
It’s suggested that Konate missed training on Friday due to a muscle problem and Liverpool don’t want to push him after only just returning from injury.
Konate missed the first two months of the season having picked up a muscle injury in pre-season against Strasbourg.
The 23-year-old came on against Arsenal last week for his first appearance of the season and then started against Rangers in midweek.
Yet Konate is now injured again already in what will be a major concern, especially given the injuries he sustained with former club RB Leipzig.
Konate – hailed as ‘wonderful’ and ‘an absolute dream’ by Phil Thompson – is clearly so talented but these injuries are a major source of frustration.
The Athletic’s report notes that, if Konate is out, Joe Gomez is likely to move from right back to centre back.
Gomez is covering for the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold at the moment but may now be needed at centre back with Joel Matip also out.
That would mean James Milner coming in at right back, which isn’t exactly ideal given how Phil Foden had real joy against him in this very fixture last season.
Milner has started just three games in all competitions this season and really hasn’t impressed with the 36-year-old starting to play his age.
This is the last piece of news Liverpool would have wanted ahead of facing City but Jurgen Klopp once again just has to try and prepare his team for a tough game and hope they can pull through in trying circumstances.
