Liverpool have been linked with Hirving Lozano and the winger is reportedly ‘destined’ to leave Napoli at the end of the season.

The Reds have just signed a new winger with Cody Gakpo arriving from PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool have made a fast start to the January transfer window with Gakpo’s arrival and Jurgen Klopp should be delighted.

Liverpool can now look forward to a dangerous front line with Gakpo joining Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino going forward.

It seems unlikely that Liverpool will be moving for another winger any time soon but that hasn’t stopped speculation linking them with a wide addition.

Liverpool touted for Hirving Lozano move

Calciomercato reported on Boxing Day – just as news of Gakpo heading to Liverpool started to emerge – that Liverpool were in pole position to sign Hirving Lozano.

The Napoli winger seems to have been linked with Liverpool on a number of occasions over the years and the rumour popped up again last week.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Lozano is ‘destined’ to leave Napoli at the end of the season with the Serie A side already seeking replacements.

Lozano, 27, was a superstar at PSV Eindhoven just like Gakpo, but maybe hasn’t lived up to expectations with Napoli.

The rapid winger has bagged 30 goals and 16 assists in 133 games for Napoli, unable to match his PSV output in Italy.

40 goals and 23 assists in 79 games for PSV made Lozano a star and many Premier League clubs were linked before his 2019 move to Napoli.

We can’t see Liverpool being the ones to sign Gakpo, and would have doubted a move even before the Gakpo deal.

Other Premier League clubs will probably be interested though and Liverpool may end up going up against Lozano next season.
