Liverpool should consider a move for Giovani Lo Celso.

Liverpool are biding their time this transfer window, and are yet to show their hand.

Perhaps, as European champions, they will decide not to move at all. This could be a mistake. They are on a high, and need to keep their foot on the pedal to try and accelerate further away from the opposition.

Tottenham have already signed Tanguy Ndombele and are trying to land Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso. Sky Sports reported this move has stalled over the Spanish side’s demands suitors pay his £88 million release clause.

While this would require a record transfer for Liverpool too, it’s one they should really consider.

Liverpool’s midfield did impressively well last season, but Jurgen Klopp needs to ask if this will still be the case in three years time.

Are Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain the future, or just simply Liverpool’s best options right now?

The Reds could really shake it up by splashing out on versatile star Lo Celso, who would put the current stars on notice.

Lo Celso can play in multiple roles. At PSG he played more as a deep lying midfielder, while at Betis he has thrived in attack.

This past season he scored 16 times from midfield for Betis in all competitions.

He could play in the Coutinho role for Liverpool, a star the club are yet to truly replace.

You can only imagine what Jurgen Klopp’s coaching and man management could do to help the 23-year-old further develop his game.

Tottenham are unlikely to give up on Lo Celso, and they are hopeful of getting him for less than Betis’ demands.

Liverpool should not neglect the opportunity to challenge, and win the race for the talented South American.
