Speaking to The Redmen TV, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Liverpool and the ongoing links to Matheus Nunes.

It was reported by The Telegraph towards the end of last month that Nunes was back on the Reds’ radar with a view to a summer move, and according to Jacobs, this one is accelerating quite quickly.

Indeed, the journalist claims that he’s heard from sources that Liverpool have actually started the process of signing Nunes in the summer.

Liverpool are working on it

Jacobs shared what he knows about this situation.

“I think there is something to it and from sources it appears that Liverpool have started that process of trying to get this one done with a view to the summer. The only complication is that he’s new to Wolves and they have a brand new manager as well and that can change the dynamic,” Jacobs said.

“Liverpool have always liked Nunes and the player knowing that will see his Wolves form as a chance to step up. It’s not the first time Liverpool have looked at Nunes. They’ve seen enough now at Wolves to suggest that a transfer is in their interest. It’s now about the money side of things.”

First summer signing

Don’t be surprised at all if Nunes is the first player through the door at Anfield in the summer.

The Reds have started the process of signing the player six months in advance, and when Liverpool set their eyes on a player they very rarely miss out.

Given that this move is being talked about so far in advance, there’s plenty of time for Liverpool and Wolves to work out the finer details of this transfer, and it’s one that should be done pretty much as soon as the summer window opens.

This would be a very decent signing for the Reds. After all, Pep Guardiola has called Nunes ‘one of the best players in the world’ in the past, and he could be one piece of the midfield puzzle that need solving at Anfield.
