It’s a problem for Spurs, especially after Spanish newspaper El Confidencial reported 24 hours earlier that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino had told chairman Daniel Levy to make re-signing the attacker a priority.
Eriksen’s contract expires next summer, putting pressure on Tottenham.
Spurs must be decisive in light of Eriksen’s comments.
That means taking the blunt decision to sell him for as much money as possible and reinvesting it in the squad.
Liverpool have shown the way, after ditching Coutinho for a club record sale last year, with Sky Sports reporting the total fee to be £146 million.
The Reds invested the funds in Virgil Van Dijk, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Shaqiri.
Their remodelling of the squad paid off, with the Reds winning the Champions League this past weekend, at Tottenham’s expense.
Spurs should listen to Eriksen, forget about wasting time trying to convince him to renew, and sell up. Then spend every penny on making the team even better.
