Liverpool may have just hinted that another signing is on the way after announcing a £35m deal for Cody Gakpo.

What’s the story?

Well, the Reds revealed that the Netherlands international has moved to Anfield on Wednesday evening.

After posting the announcement on their Twitter account, Liverpool made it their pinned tweet – which automatically keeps it at the top of the club’s official page, basically as their headline news.

Typically, a pinned tweet – especially one of this significance – stays there for a while.

Now, however, the post has mysteriously been removed as Liverpool’s pinned tweet, with no replacement tweet taking its place.

It comes amid plenty of speculation surrounding both Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez, with at least one potentially following Gakpo to Merseyside.

In regards to the Argentina international, Portuguese news outlet Record believe Jürgen Klopp has convinced him to leave Benfica for Liverpool, with Gianluca Di Marzio claiming that the Reds are preparing a huge bid.

In Bellingham’s case, the Mirror believe his father, Mark Bellingham, wants his son to join Liverpool, with the Reds making the England international their No.1 target.

Will Bellingham or Fernandez follow Gakpo to Liverpool?

It has to be said that Liverpool removing their pinned tweet is very interesting, given the fact Gakpo was only announced last night.

However – in our view at least – Bellingham or Fernandez will not be following the Dutchman to Anfield. Not yet at least.

Both Borussia Dortmund and Benfica will not want to lose their leading midfield generals in the middle of the season, although we believe a deal could be struck now for one of them.

Liverpool could sign either Bellingham or Fernandez on a permanent basis in January, before agreeing to loan them back until the summer – that is the only way we can see a deal materialising this winter.

Whatever happens, be sure to keep an eye on Liverpool this January, as more signings could follow.
