Liverpool now have a record signing to be proud of. Will Tottenham by the end of the summer?
It had been frustrating to Liverpool fans that since their fateful 2011 move for Andy Carroll, the striker remained their record signing.
The £35 million fee put Carroll among the Premier League and the world’s most expensive ever players, and his career failed to fulfil it’s potential.
Only six years on this summer, did Liverpool finally erase Carroll’s name as their record signing, with Mohamed Salah brought in from AS Roma.

The Reds paid £36.9 million for the winger, and the fee could creep up to £42 million with add-ons, The Guardian reported.
Salah could flop. He did at Chelsea. But for now he is a beacon of hope for Liverpool. The club are showing ambition by spending big and aiming for the top.
Last summer Tottenham spent big, splashing out a club record £30 million to buy Moussa Sissoko.

Tottenham fans won’t need reminding of how awful Sissoko has been. While he has not had a detrimental affect on the team, he has not been a positive in any way – and the £30 million could have been saved for a player who could have made a difference.
With Liverpool spending big this summer, Tottenham fans will be eager to see their club kick on further and mount another title push, rather than let the Reds catch up to them.
Sissoko – and Carroll – show that spending big is not always the answer, but fans would feel a whole lot better heading into the new season with a marquee signing, displacing Sissoko as their record buy.
The problem is they may have to sell Sissoko first to spent such a sum. If they can find any takers.
