Has Lyon manager Bruno Genesio just given Liverpool renewed hope that they could still sign Nabil Fekir?

Liverpool may have been given fresh hope in their pursuit of Nabil Fekir and the prospect of completing a deal for the Lyon forward after the World Cup.
As the Liverpool Echo reports, the Reds were looking to secure a £50m transfer for Fekir before the tournament in Russia started and everything looked to be complete before the move collapsed at the last minute.

The president of the Ligue 1 club, Jean-Michel Aulas, has since said it was because the Merseysiders “took too long” and has since hinted that both Manchester United and Real Madrid have shown interest in the France international.

Yet recent comments from Lyon manager Bruno Genesio suggests that once Fekir has finished his time at the World Cup a switch to Anfield could still happen.
“If there is a possibility like with Liverpool, Nabil will certainly seize the opportunity, once both parties agree,” Genesio said.
“I am working under the assumption that [Fekir] will stay with us. He wants to take the next step.
“The president has offered him the chance to leave. We will see after the World Cup. If Nabil is here, it makes my job easier.
“I would be happy to keep him. I think that he is looking at two possibilities: to stay to play the Champions’ League with us or to leave to join a bigger club.”

Liverpool have not yet reopened negotiations about a potential deal for Fekir, but could yet do so once the 24-year-old has returned to France following international duty.
The attacker would become Jurgen Klopp’s third new signing of the summer having already completed big money deals for Naby Keita and Fabinho.
