Gary Neville wants to see Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez together in the Liverpool attack after Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester City.
Liverpool hosted Premier League title favourites City on Sunday and were looking for a rousing performance.
This season has been disappointing for Liverpool so far, failing to really hit the heights of recent seasons.
An outstanding atmosphere at Anfield seemed to reinvigorate Liverpool against City though, providing the blood and thunder this game needed.
Salah grabbed the only goal of the game as he raced clear to score from Alisson’s long pass, turning Joao Cancelo before slotting past Ederson.

This was much more like it from Liverpool.
The energy was there throughout and they looked much more like their normal selves against Pep Guardiola’s men.
Maybe that rivalry with City in recent years just spurred Liverpool on and few can really argue with their 1-0 victory.
It could have been more late on as substitute Darwin Nunez was involved in a couple of great chances.
The Uruguayan was unlucky to be on the bench in the first place after two goals in his last two games.
Nunez came on though and caused problems, first breaking clear on the counter and making the wrong decision, going for goal when Salah was a in a better position.
Nunez then ran clear on the left and tried to pick out Trent Alexander-Arnold at the back post but the right back couldn’t quite score.
Liverpool will probably be happy with Nunez’s impact as he was energetic, quick and unpredictable – possibly for his Liverpool teammates too!
When Nunez came on though, he appeared to play down the left flank with Salah through the middle.
We would be more accustomed to seeing Nunez up front and Salah on the right, but that didn’t really happen.
Pundit Gary Neville has now admitted on the Gary Neville Podcast that he feels Liverpool may have stumbled onto something very dangerous.
Neville remarked at ‘what a threat’ Nunez and Salah looked together against City, believing this could be the way forward for Liverpool.
“Even at the end, when Nunez and Salah played together, it looked like… what a threat they would be together,” said Neville.
