Liverpool need to sign midfielders Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice to take them forward again, according to pundit Garth Crooks.

The Reds hammered Manchester United 7-0 on Sunday and will now take real confidence from that result.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have blown hot and cold this season and must now string together some results to get into the top four.

Getting into the Champions League would be huge for Liverpool’s transfer window hopes.

Pundit Garth Crooks has now told BBC Sport that he thinks Liverpool can become a ‘major European force’ once again with two moves.

Crooks believes Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and West Ham United’s Declan Rice are the two players Liverpool really need.

Sign those two and Liverpool would be a top Champions League side once again in the eye of former Tottenham striker Crooks.

“Much has been said about where Liverpool currently are as a team and whether they might be on the decline. Well, not on this performance,” said Crooks. “United were undressed by Liverpool and there are only two things stopping Liverpool from becoming a major European force again: their names are Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice,” he added.

Liverpool can dent Manchester United with Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice deals

As if beating United 7-0 wasn’t enough, Liverpool could now secure a couple of major Red Devils targets too.

The Athletic noted in February that United could make a move for Bellingham if they are taken over soon.

United are regularly linked with Rice too but maybe their interest will cool a little now Casemiro is on board and thriving.

Still, seeing both Bellingham and Rice join Liverpool would sting for United after chasing both players for a while.

Liverpool clearly need new energy in midfield and adding England international duo Bellingham and Rice would transform Klopp’s team.

Even seeing Liverpool sign just one of Bellingham and Rice would see the Reds become a new threat, never mind both.

The problem for Liverpool is that the duo would cost enormous fees and leave Liverpool looking at around £200million for just two players.

That isn’t really the Liverpool way, so maybe seeing Rice and Bellingham together at Anfield is something of a pipe dream.
