Liverpool have joined the race to sign Celta Vigo sensation Gabri Veiga as they consider their options in midfield.

That’s according to Spanish reporter Manu Sainz, who has been speaking to AS TV about Veiga’s future.

Sainz mentioned the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United as clubs who want to sign Veiga.

Those clubs have been mentioned in the media of late but Sainz also added in Liverpool as a club who are chasing Veiga.

Sainz noted that Real Madrid are keen on Veiga, possibly as an alternative target to Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool and Real could go head-to-head for Bellingham this summer but both clubs may now fancy Veiga as an alternative target.

The Spaniard is attracting major interest and could make a massive move this summer.

Who is Liverpool target Gabri Veiga?

Veiga has burst onto the scene this season and has emerged as one of the top talents in Spanish football.

The 20-year-old has now smashed eight goals and three assists in just 24 La Liga games this season, earning huge praise along the way.

Spanish newspaper SPORT have called Veiga ‘amazing’ whilst Faro de Vigo went with ‘outstanding’ to describe the midfielder.

Veiga is a product of the Celta Vigo youth setup and now looks set for an enormous future.

Unsurprisingly, clubs are queueing up to sign Veiga.

The Sunday Mirror (12/03, p70) reported that Newcastle United and Manchester United have been leading the race for Veiga.

Celta are hoping to get Veiga tied down to a new deal with a huge £70million release clause, which is double his current release clause.

Liverpool could now swoop in with a move of their own and leave Newcastle and Manchester United gutted.

Maybe this is one Liverpool will chase if Bellingham can’t be signed, but you can hardly blame the Reds for being attracted to Veiga’s talent and potential.
