Fulham believe Fabio Carvalho will be joining Liverpool later this year despite a deadline day move falling through at the last minute.

That’s according to 90Min, who claim that Fulham have pretty much accepted that Carvalho will be joining Liverpool.

It’s even stated that Carvalho is ‘excited’ about working with Jurgen Klopp and wants to follow the same path as Harvey Elliott.

If you cast your mind back to 2019, Liverpool raided Fulham to sign Elliott, with this Carvalho move feeling very similar.

Liverpool had teed up a £10million deal for Carvalho on deadline day, but the Reds simply want out of time to get him on board.

Sky Sports did suggest that it was ‘now or never’ for Liverpool in their pursuit of Carvalho, preferring not to run into tribunal issues.

Carvalho is out of contract at the end of the season and won’t be extending his stay with Fulham.

If Liverpool want to sign Carvalho by means of his contract expiring, they would have to pay compensation to Fulham.

Whilst European clubs can play a small compensation fee, Liverpool would be on the hook for millions – just as they were with Elliott.

Liverpool understandably want to avoid that situation, but Fulham still think that Carvalho will be signing for the Reds.

Despite missing out on a last-gasp deal, it all sounds pretty encouraging in terms of Liverpool’s hopes of still signing Carvalho.

Carvalho, 18, has bagged seven goals and four assists in 18 league games this season, excelling primarily as a number 10.

With an enormous future ahead of him, Carvalho could be an exciting capture for Liverpool – and the player himself is ready to make the move happen.
