Liverpool fans have been left gutted, with Joel Matip set to be sidelined for six weeks.
It was hoped that Matip would come back into Liverpool’s starting line-up sooner rather than later, but it now seems that the centre-back could be on the treatment table for longer than first expected.
Joe Gomez has had minimal game time at Liverpool this season, and appears to have sunk behind Dejan Lovren in the pecking order.
But with Matip out for a lengthy period of time, it now remains to be seen whether Klopp will turn to Lovren or Gomez to play alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Either way, Liverpool fans are concerned about the impact that Matip’s injury could have on their side.
And they feel that his absence will be a huge blow to the Reds over the coming weeks.
Liverpool managed to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Anfield in their last match without Matip, but Lovren did not always look comfortable in the contest.
Liverpool currently have a lead at the top of the Premier League table, with Klopp’s side six points ahead of Manchester City.
