Yesterday, West Ham suffered a 1-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-final, which left Declan Rice devastated.

The Hammers lost 3-1 on aggregate, but after full-time, the England international said something about Manchester City which will please Liverpool fans.

What’s the story?

Well, Rice was heartbroken to lose the clash in Germany, and was even more upset that he wasn’t able to give Mark Noble a special sendoff by winning the competition.

As you may know, the 34-year-old is retiring at the end of the season, and after losing to Eintracht Frankfurt, Rice admitted he wants to make his teammate’s final home game a “special” one.

Interestingly for Liverpool fans, that game is against Manchester City on Sunday 15th May at the London Stadium.

As quoted by West Ham’s official website, Rice said: “Forget me. Forget the lads. I only really wanted to win this for Nobes. That was on my mind throughout this whole tournament. It wasn’t meant to be. We will go again, and we will make his last game special.”

Now, Liverpool fans all across the globe will be praying for Rice and the Hammers to help them out by taking points from the Citizens.

Clearly, the 23-year-old wants to cause an upset, and the Irons will surely be fired up to do so after suffering heartbreak in Germany last night.

Liverpool must not think about Manchester City

In our view, everybody associated with Liverpool must try not to think about Manchester City – the Citizens could cause distractions.

Jürgen Klopp is attempting to win a quadruple for the Reds, and even if Pep Guardiola successfully defends the Premier League title, a treble would still be special for Liverpool.

However, if the Reds become too consumed by the Premier League title race, it could have a negative impact on their hunt for the FA Cup and Champions League.

Klopp previously described his players as “mentality monsters” back in 2019, and they will need to be exactly that if they’re to finish this season with more silverware, after already lifting the Carabao Cup.
