Liverpool secured a huge win in the Premier League as Sadio Mane’s sole goal was enough to beat West Ham at Anfield.

The result once again puts the Reds three points behind Manchester City in the race for top spot in the standings, with Pep Guardiola’s side facing Manchester United this Sunday.

Whilst Mane scored the crucial goal, it was Trent Alexander-Arnold who stole the show, with the England international providing a crucial goal-line clearance to keep Liverpool ahead against West Ham, and supporters will love the defender’s post-match tweet.

The defender has again been a key player for Liverpool this season, and Alexander-Arnold’s performance against West Ham showed that the Reds have the quality from the back to shut out some of the best clubs in the Premier League.

Whilst City could easily breeze past United later today, the pressure is now on for them to win with Liverpool continuing to put clubs to the sword, with West Ham their latest victim.

Indeed, the Irons did look dangerous at times, yet the strong defending from Jurgen Klopp’s side was enough to see the Reds claim the three points against West Ham, with Alexander-Arnold’s clearance potentially a season-defining moment.

As mentioned, Liverpool are now back to being just three points off City in the Premier League table ahead of the Manchester derby, and the Reds’ win against West Ham adds a mountain of pressure for Guardiola’s side.

The title race takes more turns with each passing week, and with Liverpool once again on the winning side, City have to respond if they are to keep their distance from their Premier League rivals.
