Liverpool fans on Twitter have suggested that manager Jurgen Klopp should take a look at signing West Ham United’s Javier Hernandez this summer.
The Mexico international came off the bench for West Ham to score the goal which earned a 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Sunday.
In doing so, the 29-year-old helped Liverpool in regards to a top-four finish, with the Reds and Tottenham both 10 points clear of Antonio Conte’s side in third and fourth place respectively.
Klopp has Roberto Firmino as his number nine, but beyond that the options aren’t great. The German manager only has Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke as competition for the Brazilian, while Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are out on loan at the moment.
The Anfield club might well be in the market for a new striker this summer and Liverpool supporters have thrown Hernandez’s name into the ring.
Being a former Manchester United player, signing Hernandez wouldn’t go down well with some fans on Merseyside, but he is probably a better option than Ings and Solanke at least – and he might be available.
Hernandez, who earns £140,000 per week according to 90 Min, told Univision this past week that his future in East London is far from certain, having failed to hit the heights expected of him for the most part since joining from Bayer Leverkusen.
