Barcelona snapped up Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong on Wednesday.

The rumours about Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong’s future can stop, as he agreed to join La Liga giants Barcelona on Wednesday evening.
The 21-year-old has become one of Europe’s most wanted midfielders during his time with Ajax, thriving following a move from Eredivisie rivals Willem II.
De Jong has been chased by a host of top clubs, including Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, but he has chosen a move to the Camp Nou with Barcelona instead.
The Daily Mail claim that Barcelona are not only paying a total fee of around £75million for De Jong, but also wages in the region of £300,000 having fended off major competition to sign him.
De Jong is already undroppable for the Netherlands, and he has now received a message of congratulations from one of his Dutch international teammates.
Liverpool ace Virgil van Dijk took to Twitter on Wednesday in order to send a message to De Jong, telling him that his move to Barcelona was ‘well deserved’.

Van Dijk also started out at Willem II, just like De Jong, and he joked that the Dutch club have done well in producing the pair.
Intriguingly though, Liverpool fans replied to the message by urging Van Dijk to make sure that De Jong’s Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt makes the move to Anfield.
Some told ‘agent’ Van Dijk to convince Jurgen Klopp into signing centre back De Ligt having failed to make a move for De Jong, telling him that he knows what to do in order to land a huge signing for the Reds – even with Joe Gomez and Van Dijk himself already at Anfield.
