Liverpool fans wanted Jordan Henderson to captain his country instead of the Tottenham striker.

Liverpool fans are unimpressed by England’s decision to announce Harry Kane as captain for the World Cup.
This will be Kane’s first World Cup and the captaincy will add to the pressure already on the England striker.
Liverpool fans – upset with Kane after his alleged dive at Anfield and goal row with Mohamed Salah – feel that their own midfielder Jordan Henderson should be England’s skipper.

Henderson succeeded Gerrard as Liverpool captain and has dealt with that pressure admirably.
He is now on the verge of the biggest achievement of his career, with Liverpool playing in the Champions League final this Saturday.
Henderson will captain Liverpool for the game with Real Madrid and he will command huge respect walking into the England dressing room as a Champions League winning captain, if the result goes their way.

He would have been a safe choice by manager Gareth Southgate, but the England boss would then also be boxing himself into having to start Henderson, which is far from a certainty. Kane is at least a guaranteed starter for England at the tournament.
Here is a look at how Liverpool fans reacted to the Kane decision…
