One of English football’s most loved players has made a return to the Premier League as Peter Crouch completed a transfer deadline day move to Burnley.
The former England international was relegated from the top flight last season with Stoke City but he has now joined the Clarets until the end of the season as part of a deal that sees Sam Vokes go the other way.
Crouch, who turned 38 on Wednesday, has made 462 Premier League appearances for six different clubs, scoring 108 goals (BBC Sport), and general consensus among fans of his former teams and football neutrals is positive about him.
Aside from his talents, attitude and professionalism, he is generally a very likeable person, and this consensus is reflected in such articles as that recently penned by the Stoke Sentinel calling him an “ambassador and hero who will stay in Stoke City fans’ hearts”.
You’ll find similar articles elsewhere, not to mention praise for Crouch on social media, but just as another example, the Liverpool Echo wrote one in December last year entitled “why Liverpool fans still love Peter Crouch”.
