Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne was left out against Manchester City.

Liverpool have now failed to win their last four games, having drawn 0-0 at home with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon in an absorbing encounter.
After losing to Chelsea, drawing with Chelsea and losing to Napoli, Liverpool were hoping to get back to winning ways with a statement win over City, especially having beaten them three times in a row.
However, the game ended in a 0-0 draw, and Liverpool can count themselves a little lucky, as Riyad Mahrez missed a late penalty, which would have given City all three points.
Jurgen Klopp and co will take the point and move on, but some were left confused as to why Klopp decided to drop right back Trent Alexander-Arnold, bring in Dejan Lovren at centre back and shift Joe Gomez over to right back.
Gomez has thrived at centre back this season, but didn’t entirely look comfortable at right back, and certainly didn’t offer as much as Alexander-Arnold usually does going forward.
That decision meant that Nathaniel Clyne – a natural right back with experience and defensive ability as well as the willingness to get forward – wasn’t even named in the squad.

Clyne’s absence came just hours after The Mirror reported that Leicester City want to sign the 27-year-old, who has endured an injury hell and now finds himself struggling for playing time with the Reds.
Now, Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that Clyne is finished at Anfield as Klopp clearly doesn’t rate him any more, with supporters believing Sunday’s line up ultimately spells the end for the defender, who was lured from Southampton by Brendan Rodgers in 2015.
