Liverpool defender was back in the squad which faced Porto.
Liverpool defender Joe Gomez was back with the first team squad this week against Porto.
Gomez was named as a substitute and while he did not get on, it was a step in the right direction.
The youngster was one of the stars for Liverpool at the start of the season, striking up an effective partnership with Virgil van Dijk.
Injury interrupted his form and he is yet to feature in 2019.
Gomez posted a message on Twitter after the 2-0 victory to express how much just being back on the bench meant to him.
Dejan Lovren started the game alongside Van Dijk, while Joel Matip has been playing in the role regularly.
Liverpool fans would prefer to see Gomez back in, but the £3.5 million signing must earn it.
