Liverpool fans are responding to Georginio Wijnaldumโs pre-match tweet ahead of tonightโs huge Champions League clash with Real Madrid at Anfield.
The Dutch midfielder is set to captain the Reds as Jurgen Kloppโs side go in search of a spot in the semi-final of the competition.
With Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk absent, the 30-year-old Netherlands international will wear the armband tonight as Liverpool look to overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit from last Tuesday.
Even though Anfield will be without its 12th man, this stadium has seen its fair share of magical comebacks in the Champions League and Wijnaldum himself played a huge role in the last one.
The reigning Premier League champions beat Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield two years to progress into the final, which they ultimately won for was their sixth European Cup title.
Wijnaldum scored two of Liverpoolโs four that night and some fans of the Merseyside club are looking toward the former Newcastle United midfielder for some inspiration again this evening.
Hereโs how they responded to his post on Twitter:
Kloppโs side donโt have the same mountain to climb as they did against Barca in 2019, but itโs still a big ask nonetheless.
Remember, this is a Liverpool side who have been horrible domestically and are fighting for a top-four finish in the Premier League, having won it less than a year ago.
They were a much better side when they beat Lionel Messi and his team-mates but, as mentioned, Anfield is a special ground and the Real Madrid boys wonโt be taking anything for granted.
