Some Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to an odd claim by Wout Weghorst.

The Netherlands international told De Telegraaf recently that it is a “dream” of his to one day play for Liverpool and claimed to believe that it’ll happen eventually.

The 26-year-old joined Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg this summer after netting 18 goals in 31 Eredivisie starts for AZ Alkmaar last season.

Weghorst managed 27 goals across all competitions for the Dutch side last season – a statistic which makes his apparent dream a lot more realistic it has to be said.

But here is how fans of the Anfield club reacted to his comments:

Liverpool no doubt need another striker to back up Roberto Firmino and for now that man looks like being Daniel Sturridge.

But if Weghorst tears it up in Germany over the next nine months then it’ll be interesting to see if manager Jurgen Klopp comes knocking next summer.

Weghorst’s answer would be obvious.
