Liverpool overcame Southampton with ease on Saturday afternoon.
While Liverpool’s attackers hogged the headlines following their 3-0 victory against Southampton, the Reds’ back-line also deserved plenty of praise for the way they kept the Saints at bay.
Young full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has come into his own this season and he continued to impress in his latest outing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Replacing Joe Gomez at right-back, Alexander-Arnold performed well throughout, showing the kind of composure that only the most promising players show at such a young age, and on this evidence he looks like having a very bright future at Anfield.
Liverpool were regarded as a side that always had to score one more than the opposition to win, a free-flowing attacking force with a dodgy defence, but with the likes of Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Joel Matip and the resurgent Alberto Moreno, it seems Klopp is also working wonders at the opposite end of the field.
Alexander-Arnold has not turned out 21 games for Liverpool’s first-team and he can expect plenty more chances between now and May.
