Liverpool were busy on transfer deadline day, with their incoming business grabbing most of the attention.
Defender Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak arrived from Preston and Schalke respectively, bolstering Jurgen Klopp’s defensive options.
There was a late outgoing deal though, as forward Takumi Minamino left Liverpool for a loan move to Southampton until the end of the season.
Minamino wasn’t the only Liverpool player Southampton wanted though, as they also made a move for Neco Williams.
With Kyle Walker-Peters currently out of action, the Saints wanted to add a new right back, and picked out Williams as a target.
Sky Sports (February 1st, 19:59) reported that Southampton made a bid to take the Welsh international on loan until the end of the season – but Liverpool felt they just couldn’t accept a move.

The 19-year-old has only started two Premier League games this season, and some fans think a loan to the Saints could have been ideal.
Some wish Michael Edwards had taken the move, believing that getting Williams away on loan would have been the icing on the cake as he needs playing time away from Anfield.
