Sadio Mane is hoping to win the African Cup of Nations with his home country Senegal, weeks after playing his part in Liverpool’s Champions League triumph.

Liverpool fans have praised Sadio Mane for his honesty after he stated that he would be willing to swap his recent Champions League success for an Africa Cup of Nations medal with Senegal, as reported by the Independent.
Comments such as that would understandably cause some controversy, but the Anfield faithful simply admired his honesty and stated that he can still win both.
Mane didn’t directly say that he would be willing to swap Liverpool’s success for an AFCON medal, he was clearly speaking about his own individual medal.
Earlier on this month, Jurgen Klopp guided Liverpool to their sixth European crown when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in Madrid – Mane started the encounter, whilst Mo Salah and Divock Origi were the goalscorers on the night.
Nonetheless, Mane, who was purchased by the Reds for £34 million in 2016 [BBC Sport], was instrumental in the Merseyside club’s European success, and if he can transform that form onto the international level then Senegal have a big chance of lifting the AFCON trophy.

Mane’s club teammate, Mo Salah, will be one of Senegal’s biggest threat as Egypt have already qualified for the knockout stages after winning their opening two games.
But there is a big chance that either one of them could be walking away with double success this month.
Here is a selection of Liverpool fans on Twitter reacting to Mane’s comments:
