Liverpool are reportedly closing in on Lyon’s Nabil Fekir.

Liverpool will be preparing for their Champions League final against Real Madrid later this month, but must first seal their place in next season’s competition with a top four finish.

The Reds finish their campaign with a home game against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, and a victory would provide a perfect end to a strong league campaign.

Jurgen Klopp may have turned Liverpool into legitimate contenders for Europe’s biggest prize, but he will also be looking to make new signings this summer.

Naby Keita will arrive from RB Leipzig to boost the midfield options, but another creator may be wanted having sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January – and one player appears to be the top target.

RMC Sport in France report that Liverpool have agreed a €70million (£61million) deal for Lyon star Nabil Fekir, and whilst others suggest the move isn’t that far along yet, there certainly appears to be strong interest.

Much may depend on whether Liverpool do get into next season’s Champions League or not, but Fekir is one of Europe’s top talents, having starred after coming up through the Lyon ranks.

Fekir, 24, has hit 22 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions this season, adding another eight assists in what has been a sensational campaign for the attacker, who should be in France’s World Cup squad.

Liverpool fans have been taking to Twitter to offer their reaction to the rumours, with many suggesting that Fekir would be an outstanding addition given his versatility to play as an attacking midfielder or anywhere across the front three, with some even feeling that he is already better than Coutinho, who left the club four months ago.
