Liverpool have been linked with a move for Manchester City’s John Stones.

Liverpool are in Champions League action tonight as they take Roma in the semi-finals of the competition, and Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for a strong performance at Anfield.

With a deep run in Europe and a second-place Premier League finish targeted for the end of this season, Liverpool can take major strides forward under the German, and summer additions will be key to their progression.

Naby Keita is already on his way in from RB Leipzig, but despite landing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in January, some may feel that another centre back is needed to replace the likes of Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip.

With that in mind, peculiar reports from The Sun have suggested that Liverpool may launch a move for Manchester City defender John Stones who can allegedly leave the club this summer.

It seems incredibly unlikely that City would allow Stones to leave less than two years since splashing almost £50million on him, and a return to Merseyside would also be a shock for the ex-Everton star.

Liverpool fans have offered their views on a deal for Stones though, with some believing that he would be a smart addition, and could thrive alongside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of Klopp’s defence.

Others want Liverpool to steer well clear of Stones, suggesting that he isn’t the answer to any defensive issues and Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt is the player Klopp should target, not Stones.
