Liverpool may have signed two centre backs on deadline day, but that hasn’t really stopped rumours linking them with new centre backs.

The Reds snapped up Ben Davies from Preston North End on deadline day, and then brought in Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke.

Davies has yet to make his debut and Kabak suffered a disappointing outing against Leicester City on Saturday, meaning Liverpool could still be in the market for another option.

The Sunday World report that Liverpool have now made enquiries into a possible deal for RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, having lost out to Bayern Munich for teammate Dayot Upamecano.

Konate, 21, is a hugely impressive centre back with all the attributes to become a star, possibly even better than Upamecano.

The big problem with Konate is that he suffers from major injury problems, with his Transfermarkt injury page documenting eight different absences due to injury.

Liverpool already have three centre backs out injured in Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, with the latter two both pretty injury prone.

That has resulted in some fans being worried about signing Konate, feeling that he could be just another Matip in terms of him missing too many games.

Others do prefer Konate over Upamecano, but the majority seems to be concerned and would prefer Michael Edwards to target other centre backs instead.
