Neco Williams hasn’t always had a perfect relationship with Liverpool fans on social media, but they’re absolutely loving him right now.
The Reds defender received some abuse online last season, causing him to black out his social media pages in response to the trolls.
Williams may have lost some confidence last term, but this is a new season, a new start for the Welshman amid exit rumours this summer.
The Liverpool Echo noted in June that Liverpool would sell Williams for £10million and the likes of Aston Villa, Leeds United and Southampton all wanted him.
Rumours of a departure have gone quiet since then, and it looks like Williams will stay with Liverpool beyond the transfer deadline and continue as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cover.
On Sunday, Williams featured for Liverpool in a behind-closed-doors game against Aston Villa, and scored a superb goal in a 4-1 victory at Anfield.

Williams had a great shot rattle back off the post, but he chased down his own rebound, turn a defender on the byline, cut back inside and smashed a left-footed strike into the net.
This was great individual ability from Williams, and Liverpool fans have been raving about him on Twitter.
Some suggested that the goal was actually scored by Lionel Messi and not Williams, even comparing him to Cafu after seeing his ‘insane’ goal at Anfield.
