Liverpool’s return to Premier League action was something of a damp squib in the end as they drew 0-0 away at Merseyside rivals Everton.

The Reds travelled across Stanley Park in search of three points, having not played for three months due to the global pandemic.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were understandably rusty, and didn’t quite hit top form with no Andrew Robertson or Mohamed Salah in the starting lineup.

Whilst Liverpool had most of the possession, Everton actually had the better chances, and could have nicked it late on as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s backheel was saved by Alisson before Tom Davies hit the post.

In the end, a draw was probably a fair result. Liverpool must now look to find top gear ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Crystal Palace as they look to wrap up the title.

One of the main positives from today’s game was Naby Keita. The Guinean midfielder has struggled to find consistency at Anfield, but again showed his quality today.

Keita was the creative, driving force in the Liverpool midfield, producing moments of quality throughout the first half. When he was substituted after the break, Liverpool lost impetus going forward.

Now, Liverpool fans have been taking to Twitter to react to his display. Some believe that Keita looks like a ‘different player’, and ‘looks more confident’ after the three-month break.

Others felt Keita was the best player on the pitch, and want to see him play more between now and the end of the season having impressed so much today.
