Liverpool fans have voiced their strong disapproval to bolshy comments from Jose Mourinho about new Manchester United signing Diogo Dalot.

The Red Devils clinched the signing of Dalot this week for £19 million from FC Porto, one day after bringing in Shakhtar midfielder Fred.

Dalot is just 19-years-old and United boss Jose Mourinho is excited to land the Portuguese teenager.

He was quoted by BBC Sport praising Dalot as the best player in his position and age group in Europe.

He said: “In his age group, he is the best full-back in Europe.

“He is an extremely talented young defender with all the qualities to quickly become a great player for this club.”

If Mourinho is right then £19 million will prove to be a snip and it is a gamble worth taking for United, who are used to paying a lot more for their signings.

The claim about Dalot was not received well by Liverpool supporters after the breakout season they have just seen from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold established himself as Liverpool’s first choice right-back, even starring in the Champions League final and acquitting himself well against Cristiano Ronaldo.

His season is not yet over, after he earned a place in England’s World Cup squad.

Dalot will have to go some way to catch him up.

Here is a look at how Liverpool fans reacted to Mourinho’s comments.
