Liverpool fans may have been watching RB Leipzig take on Hertha Berlin with Timo Werner in mind, but a current Reds talent grabbed the attention.
Werner has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield, and came into this game in red-hot form having smashed a hat-trick against Mainz over the weekend.
However, Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic opened the scoring. With nine minutes on the clock, Grujic volleyed Hertha into an early lead with a superb finish.
Lukas Klostermann equalised for Leipzig, and Patrik Schick’s powerful strike somehow made its way through Rune Jarstein to put the hosts ahead.
Grujic’s Hertha managed to keep Werner off the scoresheet, and then bagged a point when Krzysztof Piatek scored from the spot late on.
Werner may not land his move to Liverpool, and it remains to be seen whether Grujic is able to work under Jurgen Klopp next term too.

The Serbian talent was Klopp’s first signing as Liverpool boss way back in January 2016. However, he has made just 14 appearances for the Reds, having spent his time out on loan at Red Star Belgrade, Cardiff City and Hertha.
After his superb goal against Leipzig, Liverpool fans took to Twitter to discuss Grujic, with many hoping he gets a chance next season.
Some believe that he can learn a lot from Fabinho as a physically-dominant midfielder, adding that he is a great fit under Klopp and he should be brought back to Anfield to bolster Klopp’s midfield.
