The Southampton stopper is a reported transfer target for Liverpool this summer.

According to a report from the Daily Star, Liverpool are interested in signing Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy this summer, and some Reds fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper is a solid shot-stopper, but he still conceded an average of 1.76 goals per game for the Saints last season, although it could be argued that he would be a better back-up for Alisson Becker than Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius.
McCarthy, a one-capped England international, would obviously be Alisson’s back-up if he did join Liverpool, but at this stage of his career, he will surely be looking for regular first-team action.
The Southampton man is somewhat of a journeyman pro, however, so turning down a move to a club like Liverpool would be an incredibly difficult decision to make.

Some Liverpool fans took to Twitter, and were surprisingly positive about the rumours linking their club with a move for the 6ft 4in shot-stopper…
