Liverpool have been linked with the free agent in the wake of an injury to Alisson Becker.

The paper say that the Anfield number one will be missing for at least a month, meaning the Reds need experienced cover for Adrian, who came off the bench to replace the Brazilian against Norwich City.
It’s said that Lonergan, who was released by Middlesbrough at the end of last season, is back at the club’s Melwood base after training and playing with Jurgen Klopp’s team during pre-season.
The Reds are able to make a move for him outwith the summer transfer window because he is a free agent.
Alisson’s injury is a massive blow to Liverpool. The goalkeeper played every minute of the team’s Premier League season last term, keeping more clean sheets than any other shot-stopper in the division.
He’s a vital last line of defence and organiser of the back line so turning to Adrian is far from ideal.
The former West Ham man is a capable goalie but isn’t of the quality that the number one has, also still adjusting to how Liverpool and their defence play.
As for Lonergan, the likelihood is that he never plays a competitive game in Klopp’s team but the potential signing has provoked a bit of response from some Anfield supporters.

Should the club pursue the veteran, or simply promote one of their young goalkeepers to the senior squad?
There’s been a mixed reaction, with this lot taking to Twitter to share their thoughts…
