Liverpool got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory against top-four rivals Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Reds tore the Gunners apart and scored through Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, rendering Danny Welbeck’s 57th-minute strike a mere consolation.
While Liverpool’s attacking players took the plaudits, their defenders also did well, with returning summer signing Ragnar Klavan impressing after returning belatedly to the starting line-up.
The Estonia international had been inexplicably overlooked in recent weeks in favour of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva, whose performances when played out of position caused consternation among the vast majority of Liverpool fans.
Klavan was back playing alongside Joel Matip against Arsenal and he did not disappoint, to such an extent that Liverpool fans on social media were quick to tell manager Jurgen Klopp never to try the Lucas experiment again.
