Liverpool have just brought in a new midfielder in Thiago, but they are still being linked with another addition to Jurgen Klopp’s engine room.
The Mirror claim that the Reds are interested in signing Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips, but face competition from Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s stated that Phillips could cost up to £50million, but Liverpool and Spurs could double his wages to around £60,000-a-week in an attempt to lure him away from Leeds.
Given his affinity with the club and how he is starting in the Premier League and with England, it’s hard to imagine that he will be looking to leave in 2021.
Still, Liverpool could offer him a move away, and give boss Klopp yet another quality midfield player to utilise with the likes of Thiago, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Gini Wijnaldum.
Phillips has posted impressive stats this season, with 10 key passes, 17 tackles, 10 interceptions and almost 200 completed passes, showing his quality both in and out of possession.

Phillips has real quality, and Liverpool fans have been reacting to the rumours by suggesting that he could be Jordan Henderson’s long-term replacement.
Others believe a part-exchange deal involving James Milner could make sense, with fans praising Phillips as ‘very good’ and ‘quality’, though some are worried about paying so much for an English player in an area where Leeds aren’t exactly weak.
