Liverpool bounced back from Thursday’s 4-0 thumping at the hands of Manchester City by beating Aston Villa 2-0 today.

With the title wrapped up, the defeat to City wasn’t a huge deal, but Jurgen Klopp will still have wanted to hit back in style.

In truth, Liverpool were flat today. Their attacking fluency was missing, and Divock Origi didn’t offer all that much up top in place of Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool did break the deadlock eventually as Sadio Mane opened the scoring, before Mohamed Salah teed up Curtis Jones to make it 2-0.

Klopp will be pleased with the final stages of the game, which was trigged by the introductions of Firmino, Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson.

Klopp’s usual key men came in and upped the intensity, giving a much-needed push to get Liverpool over the line against relegation-threatened Villa.

Fans have been taking to Twitter in order to praise captain Henderson, believing that he was ‘brilliant’ when he came on.

Many believe that he changed the game for Liverpool, and his impact just goes to show how important he really is to this Liverpool side, even if others get more headlines.
