Joel Matip had another towering display for Liverpool.

Joel Matip had another fantastic game for Liverpool on Saturday.
The former Schalke centre-back, who signed for the Reds on a Bosman in 2016, was exceptional against Arsenal last week, opening the scoring with a powerful header.
And Matip was one of Liverpool’s best players again on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp’s side thumped Burnley 3-0 at Turf Moor.
It was a different sort of test for Matip and Virgil van Dijk last night, with the duo charged with the task of keeping towering striker Chris Wood quiet, which they did.
Van Dijk followed up his Men’s UEFA Player of the Year victory with another fine display, but some Liverpool fans believe that Matip deserves more credit for his form as of late.
Matip is indeed a very brilliant centre-back and one who is keeping Joe Gomez rooted to the bench for now.
Long term, Gomez and Van Dijk might be the ideal pairing, but the Cameroon international is just as undroppable as any Liverpool player at the moment and it could be a long wait for the former Charlton ace.
