Liverpool may have won 3-2 against Leicester City on Saturday but there is still plenty of work to do, with the Reds’ defence shipping two more and looking over reliant on Jurgen Klopp’s free-flowing attacking options to get them out of trouble time and again.

With Nathaniel Clyne currently side-lined, Liverpool opted to start Joe Gomez at right-back after he had played in the centre against the same opponents earlier this month.

Liverpool lost that first match 2-0 in the EFL Cup, but while still shipping two, they made their chances pay at the opposite end of the field this weekend and Klopp is likely to be happy with a hard fought victory.

Gomez was missed during his prolonged injury absence, but it is worth remembering he is still only 20 and he is years away from his peak.

Leicester’s counter-attacking style and pacy wing play saw Gomez singled out on occasions and he will know he was in a match when he reflects on Saturday’s events.

The former Charlton Athletic player will play plenty more matches this season but he needs to tighten up and ensure he is not taken advantage of as he was at times on Saturday.
